At Antibody Analytics, we value diversity, and we are proud to work with a diverse range of employees with skills and talents across a range of different fields and backgrounds. Today we would like to feature Rebecca McNiven in our spotlight.

The musical comedy follows the life of Deloris Van Cartier- a lounge singer who seeks refuge in a nunnery when she gets implicated into a witness protection scheme after witnessing a murder.

Rebecca's Experience In Sister Act

“I had a great time working on Sister Act with the Mummers Theatre Group. Rehearsals for the show had first begun early 2020 but due to Covid, the show was cancelled. The club returning to the stage was long overdue and I was thrilled to be part of it! Rehearsing for the show 2 nights a week was a much-needed theatre fix between busy work and Uni schedules. The show ran for 5 days, and I am overwhelmed by the support from the Antibody Analytics Team who were in the audience every performance!”

Q- How long have you been doing musical theatre?

“I have been performing for most of my life, I attended the Dance School of Scotland from S1 – S6 before moving to London to study musical theatre for 3 years at Laine Theatre Arts. Following graduation, I performed with the cast of ‘Singin in the Rain’ at the Royal Variety Performance, was Dance Captain for ‘Fame’ the Musical and performed as Sophie understudy in ‘Mamma Mia!’ with Royal Caribbean Productions.”

Q- What was your favourite part of working on Sister Act?

“Most importantly, it was fun, and I got to work with wonderful people. Performing will always be close to my heart so I feel very lucky to be part of such a dynamic and supportive club. Sister Act was also a welcome break from studying for exams!”

Q- Any suggestions for anyone looking to get involved in acting/musical theatre?

“Be brave! As someone who has had a pretty significant career change, it’s never too late to try something new. Theatre has a special way of challenging you and pushing you out of your comfort zone but the sense of accomplishment, comradery and the ‘buzz’ will always be worth it!”
