  3. Levelling Up with Antibody Analytics

This year, we are making waves in the world of immunology. We’re not only expanding our team, but we’re levelling up our expertise. As such, our Junior Study Managers Louis Julien and Holly Greggan, have recently graduated to the post of Study Manager. To celebrate our continual growth, we sat down with the team to see what ignited the move from academia to Antibody Analytics.

Louis takes us on a journey of determination and self-discovery: “While Antibody Analytics was my first job in the industry, I developed my skills and knowledge throughout previous experiences in academia. First and foremost, I read Génie Biologique at the Université de Tours. Let me translate that for you, I studied Life Sciences at a polytechnic institute in the green city of Tours. When I graduated from my home country in France, I ventured to the UK to study for a BSc Honours in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Microbiology.

“From here, I seesawed between England and France to conduct a PhD research project in Life Sciences at the University of Reading and L’Institut Agro Rennes-Angers. This PhD degree provided me with expertise in protein separation, identification, and characterisation that later revealed to be key for my present job.

“As soon as I relocated to Scotland, Antibody Analytics was on my radar. I joined the team in 2020 as a Junior Study Manager, and I have since progressed to Study Manager in the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) department. As opposed to solo research, Antibody Analytics has allowed me to delve into a variety of bespoke projects alongside a team of like-minded enthusiasts.”

We know the future is bright for Antibody Analytics, and Holly is beaming with enthusiasm. With academia and industry experience under her belt, our new Study Manager is already making strides in the operations, but was the catalyst?

“I always knew that I wanted to make a genuine difference to the world, and, I guess, that’s what paved the way for a career in immunology. At the University of Glasgow, I studied the murine model of arthritis and, later, honed in on mast cells and their role in Rheumatoid Arthritis at the University of Strathclyde.

“Academia provided me with the tools to embark on a career in SPR technology at industry level. Having graduated in 2015, I launched my first post at Sartorius as a SPR Analyst. Following on from this, in 2020, I used my experience of testing biosimilar molecules and application of SPR and brought this to the Biophysics team and applied it to translational assays at Antibody Analytics.

“I started as a Junior Study Manager, and I have since progressed into the role of Study Manager within Antibody Analytics working across BioAnalytical, Biophysics and Translational Immunology. While traditional CROs can often be set in their ways, Antibody Analytics uses flexibility and cross-departmental collaboration to their advantage. My new role not only gives me the opportunity to learn from a team brimming with expertise, but the stimulus to work on a variety of projects in parallel with one another.”

If you’re reading this, and you know that you want to actively contribute to science in a way that impacts the wider world, then Antibody Analytics might just be the answer. We pride ourselves on our inclusive culture and development opportunities. What’s more? We’re hiring!
